This years’ Kate’s Carol Service was a Christmas delight!
Richard Coxon, one of the UK’s leading tenors captivated the congregation with his fantastic rendition of Core n’ grato, Stille Nacht and Chestnuts Roasting.
Emily Campbell sang the opening verse to Once in Royal David’s city superbly and the choir, Wine Direction, delighted us with White Christmas, Oh Holy Night and a medley of Christmas favourites. All the music was masterfully co-ordinated on the night by organist and pianist Fiona Brown.
Our readers, BBC Radio’s Sybil Ruscoe, our President Emma Ashton and Sue Nock complimented the evening beautifully with readings from Laurie Lee, John Betjeman and the Bible.
We would like to thank all the above who took part in this years’ service and once again to the Reverend Martin Short for presiding over our Kate’s carol service and to Dougie and Becky King for all their help in rehearsals and helping to set up on the night. Our thanks also go to Hugo Kennard (who couldn’t be with us due to other commitments) for directing the choir.
A huge thank you goes to Clarendon Fine Art for once again supporting our Christmas event by donating and printing all the carol service programmes and also to all the local businesses who advertised in it.
We have noted over the years that people want to start Christmas with a lovely local carol service that only lasts about an hour – we are pleased to say that this year we achieved that!
Thank you to everyone who came to enjoy the cornucopia and to all of you who donated.
We raised just over £8,000 and would like to thank everyone for supporting our Kate’s Home Nursing.
