A Wonderful Day on the Green: Kate’s Home Nursing Charity Golf Day

We were thrilled to welcome 100 enthusiastic players to this year’s Charity Golf Day at the beautiful Wychwood Golf Club. After nine holes, players were treated to a refreshing Pimms and fruit break, generously sponsored by Tayabali Tomlin—thank you for keeping spirits high!

The weather was on our side, making it a perfect day for golf and gathering. Over a hundred guests joined us in the evening for a delicious barbecue, which was followed by a lively charity auction. Thanks to everyone’s generosity and good humour, the event raised an incredible £6,300 for Kate’s Home Nursing—a fantastic result!

Mike Pender, Trustee of Kate’s Home Nursing and event organiser said: “It was a joy to see so many supporters come together for a brilliant day of golf and fundraising. The generosity of everyone involved—from players and sponsors to volunteers—was truly heartwarming. Every pound raised helps us continue providing vital nursing care for local families, and we’re so grateful to be part of such a caring community.”

A Close Contest

The golf competition followed a pairs betterball format, and the scoring was incredibly tight. Remarkably, the top three teams each finished with 47 points, with final placements determined by count-back.

  • 🥇 Winners: Alex Lopian & Daniel O’Toole
  • 🥈 Runners-up: Steven Shepherd & Ian White
  • 🥉 Third place: Ben Burch & Gary Hitchman

Additional Highlights

The nearest-the-pin challenges added some extra excitement:

  • Hole 6: Pete Golding
  • Hole 15: Richard Hardy

And on the ever-popular greenkeeper’s challenge at the 6th hole, only 9 out of 100 players managed to beat the greenkeeper’s shot—a tough feat! Special thanks to Shaun Kench for running this competition with good humour and energy.
