Family fun, live music, dancing and ABBA hits galore as local charity, Kate’s Home Nursing, celebrates 30 years of care
The charity, who provides free hospice care at home to residents of the North Cotswolds, is inviting the community to put on their dancing shoes, pack a picnic and join a spectacular celebration this summer as the charity marks its 30th anniversary with its biggest fundraising event of the year – Picnic on the Pitch.
Taking place on Saturday 8 August from 3pm–9pm at Bourton Rovers Football Club, Bourton-on-the-Water, the event promises an unforgettable afternoon and evening of live entertainment, great food (food trailers in the evening) community spirit and family fun, all while raising vital funds to support local hospice care at home.
Headlining the event will be the sensational Abba’s Angels, one of the UK’s leading ABBA tribute acts, bringing all the classic hits that generations know and love.
From Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia to Waterloo and Super Trouper, the dancefloor is set to be packed from the first note to the last.
The celebrations will begin with music from local DJ Ian Sorley, followed by live performances from talented local singer Jordan Harding, creating a festival atmosphere for all ages to enjoy.
Families are encouraged to bring their own chairs, picnic blankets and hampers, while a range of food vendors will be on hand offering delicious refreshments throughout the day. Fancy dress is entirely optional – but glitter, sequins and ABBA-inspired outfits are warmly welcomed!
Kate’s Home Nursing has spent the last three decades providing compassionate hospice-at-home care across the North Cotswolds, supporting patients who wish to remain in the comfort of their own homes during the final stages of life, surrounded by those who matter most.
Lynda Hicks, volunteer event organiser for the charity said: “Picnic on the Pitch is much more than a fundraising event – it’s a celebration of our community and the incredible support we have received over the past 30 years. We wanted to create something that everyone could enjoy, whether you’re an ABBA superfan, looking for a family day out, or simply wanting to support a local charity that makes a real difference to local families. We can’t wait to welcome people for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon and evening of music, dancing and celebration.”
Tickets are expected to be popular, with organisers encouraging people to book early and help make the charity’s 30th anniversary year one to remember.
