At Kate’s Home Nursing, we are incredibly proud of the care we provide. However, we also know that hospice care at home is often misunderstood. We are not a nursing home or a care agency. We are a local hospice care at home charity, providing free end of life nursing care to people in their own homes across the North Cotswolds.

In 2025, our dedicated nursing team delivered 355 nights of registered nursing care to patients nearing the end of their lives. These night sits are a vital part of hospice care at home, providing expert clinical support during what can be the most challenging hours for patients and families alike. A palliative care nurse working overnight monitors pain and symptoms, administers medication, responds to changes in condition, and offers reassurance, not just to the patient, but to family members who may be exhausted, anxious or facing the reality of loss.

This free service comes at a cost

Over the year, we supported 129 families and provided 4,376 hours of registered nursing care across the North Cotswolds. Hospice care at home is about much more than medical intervention. It is about dignity, comfort and compassion, and about caring for the whole family. Our nurses support carers emotionally and practically, helping them feel less alone and more confident during an incredibly difficult time.

All of this care is provided free of charge, and that is becoming increasingly challenging across the hospice sector. Demand for end of life care continues to rise as the population ages, while hospices face growing financial pressures. The cost of delivering high-quality clinical care is increasing, and at the same time, fundraising has become more difficult due to the ongoing cost of living crisis. Like many hospices, Kate’s Home Nursing relies almost entirely on charitable grants and donations to continue operating.

Despite these challenges, 2025 was a year of compassion, resilience and impact. Every night of care, every hour spent with a family, and every patient supported at home reflects the commitment and professionalism of our nursing team, and the generosity of our supporters.

30 years – something to celebrate!

As we move into 2026, our 30th anniversary year, we are reflecting on what has been achieved and looking ahead to the growing need for hospice care at home in our community. With continued support, we can ensure that more people are able to remain at home, cared for with dignity, comfort and compassion at the end of life.
