Finally, we look ahead to an important milestone—30 years of care in 2026—and invite you to be part of our story as we prepare for this special anniversary.

In 2026, Kate’s Home Nursing will be celebrating 30 years of providing free hospice care at home to families across the North Cotswolds. This is a huge milestone – and we’d love you to be part of it.
We’re looking for:
🌼 Volunteers to help us run events and fundraising activities in 2026
🌼 Creative minds to share ideas for effective campaigns
🌼 Stories and photos from families we’ve supported over the years
This is your chance to get involved, celebrate our history, and help us shape the future. Together, we can raise awareness and vital funds so that more families can access compassionate, local end-of-life care.
We’d love you to join us at the Kate’s Home Nursing Reflections Service, St Lawrence Church, Bourton-on-the-Water. This is a beautiful tribute to patients we’ve nursed and an opportunity for their loved ones to come together and remember and celebrate their lives. It is always a poignant and uplifting service.
This year, it takes place on December 4th at 6:30pm.
Firstly, happy New Year to you all. As we enter 2025, we’d like to reflect on how our hospice at home and bereavement services helped the local community in 2024 and to let you know a little about our plans for the coming year.
A Fond Farewell
At the end of 2024, we said a fond goodbye to Karen Pengilley, who has been CEO for Kate’s Home Nursing for ten years. We would like to thank Karen for her unwavering dedication and commitment and now wish her very happy retirement.
Welcome
We welcome Helen Makaritis as the successor to this role. Helen brings a wealth of charity experience to her new role, having been at the helm of sister charity, Campden Home Nursing for over nine years. There, she was instrumental in the charity’s tremendous growth and success, and she is now looking forward to drawing on her skills and experience to further strengthen Kate’s Home Nursing. She said: “I’ve received such a warm welcome from everyone here and am proud and excited to be involved in such a well-loved and supported local charity.”
What we achieved in 2024
This year, we have provided over 6,323 hospice at home nursing hours, which equates to 700 nursing shifts. Our bereavement services have supported 60 patients this year through phone calls and we have regular attendance of around 20 guests at our bereavement cafes each month.
Like many other charities and hospices across the UK, we are experiencing increased expenditure to provide our our care. We need to raise of £600,000 to provide our hospice at home services FREE of charge to the local community. Last year, we did not cover these costs. Read on to find out how you help us. Fundraise for us: Fancy holding a Bake Off or running a marathon to help us raise funds? We’d love to hear from you and will do everything to support you.
Volunteer for us: We are always looking for volunteers to help us withour fundraising events or in our offices. If you’d like to learn more, we’d love to hear from you.
